SPUN THROUGH SHADOWS
Stay out of the shadows and follow the light....
Two dancers, a string quartet and interactive live electronics are brought together in a dramatic manipulation of darkness and illumination. Part of the Spun Through Shadows Events, a cross .arts immersive evening that toured through unusual spaces in London between 2014 - 2015 and part of Resolution 2016.
"An illuminated ghostly mirage that grew out of the darkness – unforgettable!"
Audience member (The Royal Academy of Arts 2015)
"As the violinist walks onto the darkened stage to join the other players...we know that Spun Through will be a work of intensity and intrigue. It’s a visceral portrayal of Carl Jung’s notion of The Shadow, and together with the musicians they delve deep into that troubled and obscure part of the subconscious."
Josephine Liesk, Resolution 2016 Review

Two dancers, a string quartet and interactive live electronics are brought together in a dramatic manipulation of darkness and illumination.Spun Through Shadows is is an exploration of 'the shadow', outlined by psychologist Carl Jung. The shadow is the side of our personality completely obscured from consciousness. Whatever we perceive as emotionally negative can manifest itself in our thoughts, feelings and action. Two outcomes are possible in our conscious relationship to the shadow... Either our darkest and most repressed qualities build up, overwhelming our actions or assimilation and acceptance occurs, allowing us to achieve a symbiosis between the two sides of our nature.
